Kusal Perera tests Covid-19 positive

Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Perera has tested positive for Covid-19 and will stay in isolation for the next 14 days.

Kusal, who captained the Sri Lankan side against Bangladesh in a three-match one-day international series in May, is unlikely to miss their home series against South Africa scheduled to start at the start of September.

Sri Lankan players are supposed to enter the bio-security bubble ahead of the South Africa series on August 25. But as Perera will be in isolation till then, he will be able to join the team anytime afterwards.

The left-handed batsman had also missed Sri Lanka’s series against India in July with a shoulder injury. – TBP
