New Zealand cricket team will not play the practice match which was scheduled to take place at BKSP on August 29.

In the previously dispatched schedule, the New Zealand team was supposed to play a warm-up game at the BKSP but that will not be happening, said the BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury

“We offered a warm-up match as every team wants to get used to with the conditions. But New Zealand are not interested as the match is on a different venue and a it involves another new bio-bubble. They want to make as few movements as possible during the series,” the CEO told the media on Monday.

The Blackcaps are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on August 24. And in that series, the BCB will maintain an almost similar type of bio-security protocol they implemented during the Australia series, said the BCB CEO.

“Back-to-back series and from management side both Australia and New Zealand are almost equal. New Zealand demanded the same kind of protocol that Australia had. But there is a slight change as Australia came in a chartered flight, and New Zealand are coming in a commercial flight. Therefore, immigration and other official norms will not be similar. Still, we will try to avoid public contact as much as possible and bring them to the hotel,” he said.

Like the previous series, both Bangladesh and New Zealand team members will stay at the Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka where no out-side guests will not be allowed, informed the BCB physician Debashish Chowdhury.

“Same preparations as like the Australia series. Only the teams and match-officials will stay at the hotel” he told The Business Post.

The matches of the Bangladesh-Australia series started at 6 PM local time, but the match-timings for the New Zealand series will be pushed forward.

“We plan to start the matches around 4 PM (local). As there is a big-time difference and there are issues regarding their viewers. Considering everything, we are talking with their management,” Nizamuddin said.

Some of the cricketers have already started training, and some are yet to join. But scheduled practice inside the bio-secure bubble is yet to start, but the players are instructed to maintain health guidelines, said the CEO.

“The medical and cricket operations department are also working with our cricketers as well. Other concerned departments are also working. They have already been instructed about their does and don’ts. They are told to remain with the family and not to go to the crowd,” he added.
