Bangladesh to play SL first in SAFF

Bangladesh will play Sri Lanka in their first match of the SAFF Championship, scheduled to start from October 1 at Maldives. Monday was the last date to submit names for this year’s SAFF Championship and all but Pakistan and Bhutan registered for the competition.

On Wednesday, SAFF published the fixture of the group matches of the tournament where five teams will play each other in a single league format. The top two teams will reach the final.

The tournament will kick-off on October 1 with the match between Nepal and host Maldives at the National Football Stadium, Male in the afternoon. At the same venue, Bangladesh will play against Sri Lanka in evening.

On October 3, Bangladesh will face India in their second group match and on October 6, Bangladesh will meet host Maldives.

On October 11, Bangladesh will take on Nepal in their last match the group stage and if they can earn a spot among the top two teams they will play in the final on October 13. -TBP
