HP camp hit by Covid

The start of the training camp of the High-Performance unit of Bangladesh Cricket Board is delayed as some of the called-up cricketers were found Covid-19 positive.

“Today (Wednesday) is the second covid test. In the first Covid test, some of the players came out positive. We are taking a second test, hopefully, we will get the test results by tonight,” Manager of the HP team Jamal Babu told Business Post.

He also told that the HP team and the supporting officials are yet to reach Chattagram where they were supposed to be from 17th and as per schedule, the skill and fitness training was supposed to start from today at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

But covid cases among the 22 cricketers called up in the HP unit delayed the start of the camp as the BCB has opted for a re-test due to the lack of credibility of the test results.

“We have doubts over the test results. Someone who was previously infected by the covid-19 virus twice, completed two doses of vaccine and showing no symptoms has come out covid positive. That makes the credibility of the test results a bit doubtful. We did the tests from government facilities, and now we are using private labs for testing,” a BCB official told TBP.
