Heroics from goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Zico ensured that Basundhara Kings drew 0-0 against Bengaluru FC in their second match of the AFC Cup group stage at the National Football Stadium of Maldives on Saturday.
With this draw, Kings now sit top of Group D with four points. ATK Mohun Bagan sit second, but a win against Maziya will see them overtake Kings.
Kings came to this match after an easy 2-0 win over Maziya in their opening game and looked in fine rhythm in the first half.
Kings got their best opportunity in the 55th minute when a combination between Biplo Ahmed and Robson Robinho led to the Brazilian forward taking a shot on goal that was blocked on the goal line. The rebound shot was also on the verge of giving Kings the lead but Gurpreet recovered to save it.
In the final half an hour of the game, Bengaluru took control as they kept launching one attack after another on the Kings defence. But four saves from Zico ensured that Kings were able to end the match with one point.
