NZ observers to start inspection today

Three observers from New Zealand Cricket who arrived in Dhaka will start inspection of bio-security measures from today, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official.

Debashish Chowdhury, physician at the BCB told The Business Post that the board officials had multiple Zoom meetings with the officials from New Zealand Cricket and from today they will start inspecting the facilities officially,

“They (the observers) are still in room quarantine. We have Zoom meetings and from tomorrow (today) they will start inspecting the facilities. Initially they will inspect the team hotel (Hotel InterContinental)” Debashish told TBP.

The cricketers who were called for the national team for the series against New Zealand are going through covid-19 testing and they are instructed to stay in isolation before coming inside the bio-secure zone,

“We have started collecting samples from all the players and support staffs who will get inside the bio-secure zone. We are yet to collect samples from everyone but we have covered the maximum. There will be only one test before getting inside the bio-secure bubble”, Debashish told TBP.

Previously, the BCB medical team had suffered some confusions as the test results of some of the members from the HP team was not convincing.

The BCB was using government labs but later moved to private lab and it is learned that the covid-19 tests of Bangladesh team members and New Zealand team members will be carried out in private lab. The test results are expected to come out in two days and then the Tigers will make their entry into the team hotel on 24th, the same day New Zealand Cricket team is expected to arrive in Bangladesh.

Finn Allen and Collin De Grandhome, two members of the New Zealand Cricket team who were playing the 100-ball tournament in England, came to Bangladesh a bit early as they flew straight from the U.K.

From Dhaka hotel room, Finn wished his teammates before the final by writing “Good luck to the @birminghamphoenix boys tonight! Gutted I can’t be there but will be supporting the lads from Bangladesh - let’s lift that trophy” in Instagram but unfortunately his team lost in the final to Southern Brave by 32 runs.

They both arrived in Bangladesh and now serving the room quarantine, said Debashish “Two cricketers have arrived and they are going through mandatory quarantine period”, he said.
