Government rules rule Protea duo out of SL tour

South Africa’s fast bowling coach Charl Langeveldt and seamer Junior Dala will not be available for their three-match one-day international and twenty20 international series in Sri Lanka as they could not comply with the Sri Lankan Covid-19 regulations.

Lutho Sipamla will replace Dala, whereas Northerns’ coach Mandla Mashimbyi will take up the place of Langeveldt.

According to Sri Lankan government protocols, anyone arriving in the country can not be Covid-19 positive 21 days before their arrival. Both Langeveldt and Dala tested positive a few weeks ago and despite returning negative results recently, they are unable to travel to Sri Lanka.

The Proteas will also be without Quinton de Kock, Lungi Ngidi and David Miller in the ODI series starting from September 2. But the trio is expected to join the team for the T20I series that starts on September 10. – TBP
