The upcoming Bangladesh-New Zealand Twenty20 series is also feeling the heat of trans-Tasman rivalry as the Blackcaps are visiting right after the departure of the Aussies who lost by 4-1.
Hamish Bennett, a pace bowler from New Zealand who also faced the Tigers back in March appeared in a virtual press conference on Wednesday said that he was happy to see the Australians getting defeated.
“It was fun and games (against the Australians). I assume it will be the same. We are thankful for that Australia series to know how Bangladesh will approach us. But it is one thing knowing how they will approach us, and another thing playing in these conditions. We have four or five days of training to find out if our game plans suit these wickets,” he said.
The wicket and the condition were the main riddles for the Australians and Bennet thinks that it is fair to take the home advantage.
“I think whenever Bangladesh comes to New Zealand, we produce bouncy and pacey ones that they find uncomfortable, and when we come over here, they will produce ones we find uncomfortable. I think it’s great,” the pacer said.
The Blackcaps have Thilan Samaraweera as their batting coach, who was in the same role with Bangladesh previously and Bennett thinks that the batsmen had enough practice on how to tackle the bowling here.
The New Zealand team was hit with bad news upon arrival as Finn Allen was tested Covid-19 positive but Bennet feels that he unfortunate.
“We were gutted for him. Everyone was looking forward to his show of skills, so it is a real shame. Thankfully, he is feeling better,” he said.
