After their crushing victory over New Zealand in the first twenty20 international of the five-match series on Wednesday, Bangladesh have climbed up three spots to no. 7 in the ICC T20I rankings.
Bangladesh, who were ranked no. 10 in the previous ranking, beat Australia 4-1 last month but were still sitting tenth in the rankings.
After their seven-wicket win over the Blackcaps, the Tigers went up to 238 rating points and surpassed West Indies, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan to reach the seventh spot.
Bangladesh have a chance to climb up to the fifth spot if they manage to win their series vs New Zealand 5-0 and South Africa lose a match in their three-match series vs Sri Lanka.
If that happens, Bangladesh will be ranked fifth with 248 rating points whilst South Africa and Australia will go down one spot each. – TBP
