Tigers to reach Oman on October 4

Bangladesh national cricket team will leave for Oman on October 4 for their camp before the T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman, Bangladesh Cricket Board’s cricket operations chairman Akram Khan said on Thursday.

Bangladesh will face Scotland in their first match of the World Cup at Oman on October 17 and face Oman and Papua New Guinea on October 19 and 21.

Akram told the media on Thursday that they will leave for Oman on October 4 and face two opponents in warm-up games before the World Cup starts.

“We will leave for Oman on October 4. We will train there. We will come to Dubai from Oman and play warm-up games. One match is against Sri Lanka, but the other opponent has not been fixed yet. We will play a couple of practice matches according to the ICC fixtures,” he said.

BCB released their list of contracted players for this year and instead of their regular categories of red-ball and white-ball contracts, this time the contracts were categorised by three formats. Akram said that this was because a lot of players were just playing T20Is.

“A lot of players like Nasum Ahmed and Shamim Hossain are playing just T20Is. That is why we have categorised the contract in three formats. We kept the difference due to performances.

“So that the players think that if they can move from one format to another, they can earn more. We have done this willingly so that cricketers are eager to perform and make a place in other formats,” Akram said.
