Bangladesh Sports Press Association will facilitate an award for sports organisers in memory of the late Afzalur Rahman Sinha also known as Kaisar Sinha.
In a program organised at Dhaka Club on Saturday, BSPA officials unveiled the memorial book cover and announced the award for grass-root level organisers where Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan, Bangladesh Olympic Association Secretary General Shahed Reza were present.
Kaiser Sinha was the president of Dhaka Club when he expired on 8 August 2018. He was a director of BCB and formed the financial structure of BCB after Nazmul Hasan took charge as BCB President. He was also a patron of the Abahani Club and Surjotorun club.
To honour his legacy, BSPA will award selected grassroots organisers each year with a cash incentive funded by ACME, informed Kaiser Sinha’s son Fahim Rahman Sinha on the occasion.
BCB President Nazmul said how grateful he is to Kaiser for his contributions to BCB, “When I took charge as BCB President, BPL was a headache. There were so many irregularities in the management structure and financial structure of BCB. I found Kaiser Bhai as a good businessman who can run a big company like Acme. I bestowed him with the charge of the Finance committee. Today we have 900 crore taka FDR, all because of the system he installed in the BCB,” he said in the program.
Former cricketer and board director at BCB, Khaled Mahmud, shared his memories with Kaiser Sinha, “I know him from a very young age and throughout many stages of my life; as a player, and later a colleague in the board. He was a very nice person, very caring."
