Barcelona-Sevilla postponed

The La Liga match between Barcelona and Sevilla, set to be held on September 11, has been postponed by Spain’s National Sports Council.

The match between Villareal and Alaves on the same date has also been postponed.

The matches were postponed because of the ongoing South American World Cup qualifiers. The final match of this round of qualifiers will end on September 10, and the matches were supposed to take place the very next day. Thus, Spain’s National Sports Council postponed both the matches.

If the match went on, the most affected team would be Sevilla as they have three Argentine players in their team- Alejandro Gomez, Marcus Acuna and Gonzalo Montiel. Barcelona would also be affected as they would not have the services of Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araujo. – TBP
