Bangladesh A team will face the Bangladesh High-Performance side in the first of the two four-day matches at Chattogram today.

The A team mostly consists of members from Bangladesh’s Test side including Test skipper Mominul Haque, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Abu Jayed Rahi, Saif Hassan, Shadman Islam and Ebadot Hossain.

On the other hand, the HP team is made of youngsters, including players from the Under-19 World Cup-winning side like Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon and Akbar Ali.

Ahead of the series, A team Shanto said that they were looking forward to the series as they were out of match practice for some time.

“After a long time, we, the red-ball players, are getting an opportunity to play a series. It is a very good opportunity for all of us. The most important thing is, we have been out of cricket for quite some time. We needed to get back into match practise as we don’t play Tests regularly. BCB has created the opportunity for us,” he said in a video message.

Bangladesh will face Pakistan later this year in November-December for a two-match Test series and a three-match Twenty20 international series. One of the Tests are in Chattogram, and Shanto believes that this series will help them adapt.

“We have a Test against Pakistan later this year in Chattogram. So, these four-day matches will help us get prepared for that series,” the left-handed batsman said.

Shanto also added that this series would also help them train for the upcoming National Cricket League.

The series between the A team and the HP team has two four-day matches and three One-day matches. The second four-day match will start on September 23.

The three One-day matches will be on September 30, October 2 and 4.
