Former cricketer, coach and sports journalist Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury is in critical condition. He was taken to the Anwar Khan Modern Hospital on September 15 due to a respiratory infection. Jalal has now been taken to the intensive care unit, where he is receiving artificial ventilation.
General Secretary of Cricketers Welfare Association, Debabrata Paul told The Business Post that his condition is deteriorating, “His condition is not improving, the proportion of oxygen he is receiving through ventilator is dropping. His children are coming from abroad on Monday”, he said.
Jalal has been a prolific cricket writer besides being a professional cricketer during the seventies and eighties.
After his playing career, he moved to coaching and coached many club teams and age-level teams.
Jalal also worked with the Bangladesh Cricket Board in the game development department. –TBP
