Women cricketers start WCQ preparation camp today

The preparation camp for the selected women cricketers for the upcoming World Cup qualifier is scheduled to start today at the Bangladesh Cricket Board Academy ground in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium premise.

The BCB has announced the names of 20 cricketers selected for the preliminary squad, they are; Murshida Khatun, Shamima Sultana, Nigar Sultana Joty, Fargana Hoque Pinky,Rumana Ahmed, Ritu Moni, Nahida Akter, Salma Khatun, Jahanara Alam, LataMondol, Suraiya Azmin, Nuzhat Tasnia, Fahima Khatun, Fariha Islam Trisna, Shanjida Akther Maghla, Sobhana Mostary, Khadiza-Tul Kubra, Sharmin AkterSupta, Puja Chakrabortty, and Disha Biswas.

Bangladesh women’s team will take part in the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifier 2021 which will take place in Zimbabwe from November 16 to December 5.

The tournament is very important to shape the future of women’s cricket of Bangladesh as a spot among the top five could open the doors for multiple ODI series for the women’s team in the “Future Tour Program” set by the ICC.

Before the World Cup Qualifier, the women’s team will play a three-match one-day internationals series against Zimbabwe women’s team.

The women cricketers will begin their training with a five-day fitness assessment and fielding practice at the BCB Academy ground which will start today.

After the team will move to Sylhet, where the cricketers will play five practice matches and carry on the training till October 11.

The players will leave Dhaka in the first week of November.
