Mushfiqur Rahim is ready to embrace his new role in the upcoming T20 World Cup, where he will not be a wicketkeeper.
Previously, Mushfuq told the media many times that wicketkeeping helps to bat with more confidence, but he will be up for any role according to the team’s requirements.
“Obviously, if you observe something from close quarters, that will give you a clear idea. But besides that, if the team is thinking something different or the team combination demands something; I have to adjust to that as a cricketer. Now the team is asking much more from me in the batting department, I will try to fulfil that,” said Mushfiq in the launching ceremony of a mobile game in his name.
“Howzzat Mushi the dependable” is the name of the newly launched mobile game, developed by a local IT company named Turtle solutions.
Mushfiq told the media that he loves to play games on his laptop or mobile while passing idle times in a hotel or travelling, and he is delighted to have a game of his own.
After a couple of good knocks against the high-performance team for Bangladesh A, Mushfiq said that he wanted to get some in-game intensity before the main draw.
“It does not matter how long I practise alone or with the team, nothing comes closer to match practice. If I am not playing matches, it is not easy to catch up with the intensity of international games. I was trying to get some match practice in a competitive scenario. Our U-19 World Cup winners are mostly in the HP team now, and they are quite good. So I tried, hope it will work,” said Mushfiq at a city hotel on Friday.
Before moving to Chattogram to play both the matches, Mushfiq went to the BKSP to seek some guidance from his childhood mentor Nazmul Abedeen Fahim.
Mushfiq told the media that he is trying to pump up his strike rate.
“I talk to sir all the time; he knows everything about me and Shakib (Al Hasan). I have some problem areas which only sir and I know, we are working to improve those areas. Some things are common like range-hitting, improving strike rate for T20. Not individually, as a team we have to improve in these areas, I just wanted to stay ahead,” Mushfiq told the reporters.
Mushfiq, along with the rest of the team members will fly for Oman on Sunday where Bangladesh will play the preliminary stage of the T20 World Cup.
