Tigers off to Oman for T20 World Cup

Bangladesh cricket team, led by batsman Mahmudullah, left Dhaka late on Sunday for Oman to participate in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

Fourteen cricketers took the flight to Muscat from Dhaka where the Tigers are scheduled for a preparation camp and qualification round before the main draw.

Liton Kumar Das, opening batsman of the team, left two days early due to family reasons.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are currently at the UAE to take part in the Indian Premier League and they will join the rest of the squad before the official warm-up matches.

All the foreign coaching staff members of the team will also meet the cricketers in Oman.

After arriving in Muscat, the visitors will remain in room quarantine for one day. The training will start from Tuesday and will continue for four days before the team fly to UAE to take part in the official warm up game.

Earlier, the Bangladesh Cricket Board was planning for a practice match against Oman A team but the idea was dropped at the last moment due to quarantine issues.

On October 8, the Tigers will leave Oman for Abu Dhabi where they will play two warm-up matches.

Sri Lanka is the opponent of the first warm up game which will take place in Abu Dhabi on October 12.

Next is Ireland, who the Tigers will face on October 14. On October 15, Bangladesh will fly back to Oman.

On October 17, Bangladesh will play their first match of the T20 World Cup against Scotland in Oman.

The Tigers will take on hosts Oman on October 19 and face Papua New Guinea on October 21 in the next two matches of the preliminary round of T20 World Cup.
