Bangladesh cricket team will step into the official program schedule of the T20 World Cup from today after successfully completing the conditioning camp in Oman with a convincing win.

The Tigers defeated the Oman XI team by 60 runs in the warm-up game, where Liton Kumar Das and Mohammad Naim scored half-centuries.

Liton, who was struggling at home against New Zealand, finally got some runs beside his name as he played a knock of 53 runs from 33 balls.

Naim gave opportunities to other batsmen by retiring after playing a knock of 63 runs from 53 balls, though questions about his strike rate remains an issue.

Mushfiq, after a dull series against New Zealand, found some rhythm in the two matches he played for the Bangladesh A team against the High-Performance team in Chattogram but could not carry that in Oman as he was out for a golden duck while trying a scoop.

Soumya Sarkar also disappointed as he was out for just eight runs, and Afif Hossain could not siege the opportunity as he was also out for only six.

It was Nurul Hasan Sohan who was in the perfect mode for T20 as he smashed seven sixes to compile 49 runs from just 15 balls.

Shamim Hossain also joined the party as he played a quickfire innings of 19 runs from 10 balls with two sixes.

After the match, the rookie all-rounder said that he will try to replicate what he has done here in the main stage.

“I know that I will not get opportunities to play too many balls. In most cases, I will go to bat after the 15th over of the innings. My aim is to finish the innings,“ said Shamim

Bangladesh will play their three matches of the preliminary round of ICC T20 World Cup in the same venue where they played against Oman XI on Friday night.

Shamim is hopeful about some good batting performance from the batsmen who struggled to score in the series against Australia and New Zealand at home as the wickets were not favourable for batting.

“Our start was good. The openers gave us a nice start, and in the end, I had a good partnership with Sohan (Nurul Hasan) Bhai. The wicket was good. The batsmen played flawlessly. I am very optimistic that our batsmen will score a lot of runs on this wicket,” he told the reporters.

The Tigers restricted the Oman XI team for 147-9, without the two spearheads of bowling attack Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman, yet to join after their stint in the Indian Premier League.

Shariful Islam picked three wickets, and Mohammad Saifuddin bagged a brace while Nasum Ahmed, Mahedi Hasan and Afif took a wicket each.

Shamim believes that the bowlers will also do well on this surface.

“Our bowlers have also done well. The team combination was good. We had good communication among us. We played the match under the lights. That was also important for us,” he said.

Now Bangladesh team will officially step into the ICC designed schedule for the T20 World Cup as the conditioning camp in Oman is over.

Today at 6 PM local time, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Oman national teams will take the chartered flight to Abu Dhabi, where the Tigers will play their two officials warm-up matches.

Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first warm-up game on Tuesday before facing Ireland in the second warm-up game on Thursday.

On Friday, the Tigers will head back to Oman for the preliminary round of the ICC T20 World Cup, where they will face Scotland, Oman and Papua New Guinea.
