Eight Bangladesh players included in LPL draft

Eight cricketers from Bangladesh have been included in the players’ list for the second season of the Lanka Premier League, scheduled to start from December 5.

An estimated 699 international cricketers have registered for the LPL that includes eight from Bangladesh.

They are- Mahmudullah Riyad, Mehidy Hasan, Sohag Gazi, Shafiul Islam, Afif Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Imrul Kayes and Ebadat Hossain.

Bangladesh are slated to play a two-match home Test series against Pakistan, starting from November 26 and the series will end on December 8.

Some of the cricketers among eight are in the central contract with the Bangladesh Cricket Board which might not allow them to participate at the start of the season. This might go against the Bangladesh players during the draft.

Ebadat Hossain, Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan are the three cricketers in contract with the BCB for Test matches.

Players like Chris Gayle, Andre Russel, Yusuf Pathan, Irfan Pathan and James Faulkner will be up for grabs for the franchises in the players’ draft of LPL.

Each team will play eight games in the league stage with three knockout stage games with the mega finals to be held on December 23.

Earlier, Bangladesh all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin was picked for the Abu Dhabi T10 league by Bangla Tigers. He was the only Bangladeshi player picked as the dates coincide with Tigers’ three-match Twenty20 international series against Pakistan.
