Ashraful picks up five-wicket haul in NCL

Wickets flurried in the National Cricket League match between Barishal and Chattogram as Mohammad Ashraful became an unlikely hero with the ball for Barishal, picking up five wickets.

In the match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Barishal skipper Fazle Mahmud opted to bat first. But nobody other than Rafsan Al Mahmud and Moin Khan could stick at the pitch as they were bowled out for 146. Rafsan scored 60, whereas Moin scored 45.

Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad was the star for Chattogram with five wickets, with Nayeem Hasan picking up five.

But Chattogram received an even harsh treatment when they came out to bat. Ashraful had help from Monir Hosein as they picked up five wickets each to bowl Chattogram out for just 87. Captain of Chattogram Irfan Sukkur top-scored with 20.

Ashraful picked up five wickets for 53 runs, including a hat-trick, whereas Monir took five for just 15 runs.

Khulna were also bowled out in their match against Sylhet for 196. Anamul Haque top-scored with 55 for Khulna with Ziaur Rahman scoring 39.

Rejaur Rahman picked up three wickets for Sylhet with Ebadot Hossain, Tanzim Sakib and Enamul Haque Jr picking up two wickets each.

In reply, Sylhet could only manage 30 runs by the end of the first day’s play, losing three wickets.

Dhaka managed to bulk up 293-3 by the end of the first day’s play against Rangpur, courtesy of centuries from Abdul Mazid and Saif Hassan. Mazid got out for 110 but Saif stayed unbeaten on 102 at the end of the day.

Mahmudul Hasan, Tanvir Hayder and Nasir Hossain picked up a wicket each for Rangpur.

In their match against Dhaka Metro, Rajshahi were bowled out for 252 at Cox’s Bazar. Tanzid Hasan Tamim managed to score 77, whereas skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto notched up 67.

Md Sharifullah picked a five-wicket haul for Dhaka Metro, including a hat-trick. Rakibul Hasan picked up three wickets alongside him.
