Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is a doubt for the Tigers’ upcoming home series against Pakistan following his hamstring injury that ruled him out of the World Cup.
Shakib picked up a hamstring injury during Bangladesh’s World Cup match against West Indies and was ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.
Bangladesh also had two other injured players in Mohammad Saifuddin and Nurul Hasan Sohan. Sohan is likely to be fit for the Pakistan series but Saifuddin, who only features in white-ball cricket for Bangladesh, is out for the Pakistan series.
Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Debashish Chowdhury said in Dubai that Shakib would take a minimum of three weeks to recover whereas Saifuddin would need six weeks.
“It will take Shakib at least three weeks before recovering to full fitness. He might be able to play the Test series. Saifuddin is ruled out for six weeks. There are no doubts about Sohan,” Debashish told the media.
Bangladesh will play three T20Is and two Tests against Pakistan after the World Cup.
