Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed and seamer Shohidul Islam grabbed the spotlight on the first day of the fourth round of the ongoing National Cricket League as they picked up seven wickets each.

Nasum, playing for Sylhet, dismantled the Dhaka batting lineup as he picked up seven wickets for 43 runs, leading to Dhaka being bowled out for just 123.

After returning from the T20 World Cup, Nasum took no time to adjust to the red ball as sent three Dhaka batsmen- Rony Talukder, Joyraj Sheikh and Md Raqibul Hasan for ducks to start the landslide.

Only Mahidul Islam Ankon (64) could show some resistance from Dhaka, but that was not enough as they were bowled out in 50.3 overs.

Besides Nasum’s seven wickets, Ebadot Hossain, Shahanur Rahman and Rejaur Rahman picked up a wicket each.

In reply, Sylhet managed to score 79 for two wickets by the end of the first day’s play. Opener Sayem Alam Rizvi is unbeaten on 45.

At BKSP, Dhaka Metro seamer Shohidul wreaked havoc against Rajshahi to bowl them out for 232. The pacer ended with figures of seven for 48.

Besides Shohidul’s seven wickets, AKS Swadhin picked up a couple and Abu Hider Rony one.

For Rajshahi, Farhad Reza top-scored with 60, whereas Mizanur Rahman scored 48.

In Sylhet, Khulna managed to score 257-9 by the end of the first day’s play against Rangpur. Imrul Kayes top-scored for the with 76 with all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz staying unbeaten till stumps on 72. Alauddin Babu and Sohrawordi Shuvo picked up three wickets each for Rangpur.

Barishal were bowled out for 236 in their match against Chattogram in BKSP. Fazle Mahmud Rabbi was the top scorer for them with 76, with Moin Khan scoring 31. Noman Chowdhury and Hasan Murad picked up three wickets each for Chattogram, with Mehedi Hasan picking up a couple.

In reply, Chattogram ended the day on 34 for no loss as Pinak Ghosh and Md Jasimuddin were unbeaten on 19 and 14 respectively.
