Five players from Bangladesh have been picked for the second season of the Lanka Premier League. The players are- Al-Amin Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, Mohammad Mithun, Nazmul Islam Apu, and Mehedi Hasan Rana.

Taskin and Al-Amin have been picked by Colombo Stars, whereas the remaining three have been picked by Kandy Warriors.

The season is scheduled to start on December 4, when Bangladesh will face Pakistan at home in the second Test of the two-match series.

This might lead to Taskin not featuring in the early stages of the tournament as he is under the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s contract for all three formats.

All the players that have been picked, except for Taskin, are not included in BCB’s central contract for any of the formats.

Due to Bangladesh’s series against Pakistan, which includes three Twenty20 internationals besides the Tests, players like Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah Riyad, and Tamim Iqbal were not picked in the auction.

Both Shakib and Tamim are battling with injuries while Mahmudullah had a pathetic T20 World Cup campaign.

Colombo Stars picked up Chris Gayle from the auction, with Galle Gladiators signing Tabraiz Shamsi and Mohammad Amir. Faf du Plessis and Shoaib Malik have been picked by Jaffna Kings, with Dambulla Giants signing Imran Tahir and Rilee Rossouw.
