A rescheduled fixture for the ongoing four-nation Mahinda Rajapaksha tournament in Sri Lanka was announced on Thursday as Bangladesh national football team will face Maldives on November 13 and Sri Lanka on November 16.
Bangladesh were scheduled to play their first match of the tournament against Seychelles on November 8. But due to heavy rain damaging the Colombo Race Course Stadium outfield, the match was postponed twice and was played on Wednesday.
Bangladesh drew that match against Seychelles, ranked 199 in the rankings.
Bangladesh took the lead in the 17th minute courtesy of a goal from Mohammad Ibrahim. They were handed a number of opportunities to increase their lead but failed to capitalise.
Seychelles managed to find an equalizer in the 88th minute when Rashid Labrosse scored.
Ibrahim, who was also guilty of missing a few opportunities, said on Thursday that their finishing problems were because of the muddy outfield.
“The field was very muddy because of the heavy rain. I think that is why we missed those chances,” the forward said.
Bangladesh did not train on Thursday. They took part in a recovery swimming session on Thursday and will train on Friday before their match against Maldives.
