Taskin hopes for sporting wicket

Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed hopes for a sporting wicket against Pakistan in the upcoming three-match T20i series that starts from Friday.

Bangladesh and Pakistan had totally different World Cup campaigns in the UAE, where the Tigers showed a pathetic display of poor cricket but on the other hand, Pakistan was on top of their game but one bad over in the semifinal cost them dearly.

Taskin admits that Pakistan will be tough opposition and Bangladesh must make a fresh start after the World Cup debacle,

“No doubt Pakistan is a top team in T20. They have played superbly in the World Cup, unfortunately, they lost in the semifinal. They have excelled in all three departments, so to do well against them we have to do better in all three departments”, said the right-arm pacer.

“We are working hard, we know that things will not be easy but we are trying to give the nation something to cheer for”, he added.

The wickets of Sher-E-Bangla National Stadium received much criticism from both the ends after the series against Australia and New Zealand.

Out of the 10 matches of those two series, Taskin played only one as the wicket was too friendly for spinners and the right-arm pacer was left in the dug-out to make room for another spinner.

Taskin hopes that this time the wicket will be sporting so that the contest between the bat and the ball can be enjoyed, “Fast bowlers always want to play on bowling-friendly wickets. But in the white ball, we hardly get a chance to play on bowling friendly surface. Most matches are played on sporting wickets, I also expect sporting wickets in Mirpur. Whatever the conditions are, adopting to that is the key challenge”, he said.
