Bangladesh to co-host 2031 World Cup

Bangladesh will co-host the 2031 ICC World Cup with India, International Cricket Council announced on Tuesday.

Bangladesh had previously co-hosted the 2011 ICC World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh had bid for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, but that has been awarded to Pakistan. Bangladesh had also bid for the 2024 T20 World Cup as co-hosts with Sri Lanka. But that has been awarded to India and Sri Lanka.

Among other events, USA and West Indies will host the 2024 T20 World Cup, whereas South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia will host the 2027 ICC World Cup. Australia and New Zealand will host the 2028 T20 World Cup, India will host the 2029 Champions Trophy, and England, Scotland, and Ireland will host the 2030 T20 World Cup.

Namibia and USA will debut as hosts of ICC events as all the other nations have previously hosted various ICC events.

ICC Chair Greg Barclay said that 14 countries hosting eight ICC events throughout the next decade proved the truly global nature of cricket.

“To have 14 Members hosting 8 events is a reflection of the truly global nature of our sport and I’d like to thank every Member that submitted a bid and offer our congratulations to the successful bidders,” he said.
