Mushfiq receives warning from BCB

Bangladesh Cricket Board has warned Mushfiqur Rahim for using inappropriate words during an interview with the media where he took a dig against the selectors for dropping him from the T20 team in the series against Pakistan.

On Wednesday, Mushfiq interacted with a few journalists at a cafe in Mirpur, where he said that he told the selectors that he was available for the Twenty20 international series against Pakistan, but the selectors dropped him.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin earlier told the media during the team announcement on Tuesday that Mushfiq was rested as Bangladesh will play four Tests in a short time.

Mushfiq was summoned at the BCB office on Friday evening, where the chairman of cricket operations, Akram Khan, national selectors, and the BCB CEO were present.

BCB holds him responsible for violating the code of conduct by using inappropriate words in his interview, and Mushfiq was barred from talking to the media.

Though no official statement has been given by the BCB in this regard, The Business Post understands from various sources that the BCB officials asked Mushfiq why he said such things to the media regarding the selection policy and the selectors.

Mushfiq lost his place in the T20 squad after his poor show in the T20 World Cup, where he scored 8,0 and 1 in the last three matches.

Though Mushfiq believes that so far, this was his best show among all the T20 World Cups he played, he told in the interview.

Mushfiq could have been playing his 100th T20i for Bangladesh on Friday, but he was snubbed, and unfortunately, he had to appear in the same premise where his teammates played another match.
