Shakib Al Hasan is ruled out from the first Test against Pakistan as his injury did not heal, said chief selector Minhazul Abedin.
Shakib’s inclusion in the squad was subject to his fitness but Minhazul said that the all-rounder is yet to recover,
`Shakib’s couldn’t recover from his injury yet. He needs further rehabilitation. Our physiotherapist is constantly taking care of him’, he told the reporters.
Minhazul also indicated that Shakib might also miss out the second Test as well,
‘I don’t know if he is going to play in the second Test or not. Our physiotherapist knows it all’, said the chief selector.
The Test team cricketers of Pakistan have reached Chattogram on Tuesday where they will play the first Test against Bangladesh, starting from November 26 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
Bangladesh will start a new cycle of the World Test Championship with the two-match Test series against Pakistan.
Most of the cricketers of the Bangladesh Test team, led by Mominul Haque were stationed in Chattogram while those who were part of the recently concluded twenty20 series also joined them on Tuesday.
Najmul Hossain Shanto, Yasir Ali Rabbi and Nurul Hasan Sohan traveled to Chattogram on Tuesday on a chartered flight along with the Pakistan team members.
Both the teams will have two practices sessions ahead of the first Test.
Pakistan will train on Wednesday morning session while Bangladesh will train in the afternoon, on Thursday both the teams will practice in reverse order.
Bangladesh have suffered a last-moment blow as pacer Taskin Ahmed suffered a hand injury which will keep him out of the first Test and he is not certain for the second Test as well.
Shakib Al Hasan’s availability is also uncertain as he will play subject to declared fit.
Tamim Iqbal is also not available in this series due to injury.
Selectors picked up uncapped Mahmudul Hasan and Rejaur Rahman Raja for the first Test.
