East Zone picks Tamim-Mushfiq for BCL

Islami Bank East Zone put together a strong team for the upcoming Bangladesh Cricket League as they retained Tamim Iqbal and picked up Mushfiqur Rahim in the draft of the Bangladesh Cricket League held at the Bangladesh Cricket Board in Dhaka on Thursday.

Besides Tamim, Bangladesh Test skipper Mominul Haque, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Afif Hossain, Imrul Kayes and Nayeem Hasan were retained by East Zone. Besides Mushfiq, they picked the likes of Mohammad Naim, Irfan Sukkur, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Ashraful, Rejaur Rahman Raja, and Shahadat Hossain Dipu from the draft.

Bangladesh T20I skipper Mahmudullah Riyad was picked from the draft by BCB North Zone along with Liton Das, Akbar Ali, Taskin Ahmed, Shamim Hossain, Aminul Islam Biplob, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Syed Khaled Ahmed, and others. Their retained players are- Ariful Haque, Naeem Islam, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Mohammad Saifuddin, Tanbir Hyder and Sunzamul Islam.

Walton Central Zone retained Shuvagata Hom, Soumya Sarkar, Shohidul Islam, Abdul Mazid, Taibur Rahman Parvez and Mukidul Islam Mugdho. Mosaddek Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudul Hasan and Hasan Murad were among the other players they picked from the draft.

BCB South Zone retained Fazle Mahmud, Anamul Haque, Mahedi Hasan, Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Farhad Reza, and Nasum Ahmed. They picked up Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Enamul Haque Junior, Towhid Hridoy and others from the draft.

Among notable absentees, Bangladesh openers Shadman Islam and Saif Hassan were not picked as both are likely to be away with the national team at New Zealand during the four-day segment of the BCL.

For the first time, BCL will have a one-day segment besides the regular four-day part. The tournament’s longer version segment will start on December 10, with the one-day part scheduled for later.
