Saif doubtful for second Test

Bangladesh opener Saif Hasan is a doubt for the second Test against Pakistan, starting on Saturday at Dhaka, as he has been infected with Typhoid.

Bangladesh Cricket Board physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed the news of his infection.

“Saif has been infected with Typhoid. In these cases, the body becomes very weak. It is very difficult to play with such weakness. His treatment for Typhoid has already begun,” Debashish told the media.

Despite being a doubt for the final match of the series, Saif will return to Dhaka from Chattogram with the team.

Saif has been having a troubling time with the bat in recent days. In the first Test, he managed 14 and 18 in the two innings.

Earlier, he was unexpectedly called up for the Twenty20 international series against Pakistan. He played two matches in three-match series and could manage only one run.

Bangladesh have called up opener Mohammad Naim for the final Test of the two-match series, and if Saif is not fit by Saturday, he or Mahmudul Hasan Joy might be handed a Test debut.
