Bangladesh Under-19 national cricket team gained a comprehensive 113-run victory over India U-19 B team in their second match of the U-19 Triangular Series at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday.
Batting first, Bangladesh put up 305-6 courtesy of a century from Prantik Nowrose Nabil and a blistering unbeaten 70 from S M Meherob Hasan.
In reply, India U-19 B were bowled out for 192 as Ariful Islam picked up four wickets. Nabil was adjudged the player of the match.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh skipper Rakibul Hasan opted to bat first. Opener Mahfijul Islam (15) returned after a 30-run opening stand, but a 95-run partnership between Nabil and Iftakhar Hossain created the foundation of the Bangladesh innings.
Iftakhar was gone for 57, whilst Md Fahim and Aich Mollah fell cheaply. But Nabil went on to pick his hundred before Kaushal S Tambe dismissed him for 101.
From there on, Meherob put on a show as he scored 70 off just 48 deliveries, including six fours and two sixes. His innings ensured that Bangladesh ended on 305-6.
Tambe picked up two wickets for India U-19 B, with Aneeshwar Gautam, P M Singh Rathore, and Aayush Singh Thakur picking up one each.
In reply, Bangladesh U-19 were dominant with the ball from the very start as they picked up wickets in regular intervals. None of the Indian batsmen could last long at the crease as their highest score came from Tambe, who scored 42. Md Faiz and Ansh Gosai scored 27 each as India U-19 B were bowled out for 192, handing Bangladesh a 113-run win.
Besides Ariful’s four wickets, Naimur Rohman Noyon picked up a couple with Meherob, Md Ashiqur Zaman, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and Rakibul picking up one each.
