Bangladesh sends half a dozen to Bhutan’s net

Bangladesh secured their first win in the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship 2021 as they defeated Bhutan by 6-0 at Shipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Dhaka on Monday.

Tohura Khatun and Shahada Akter Ripa scored two goals each, whilst Ritu Porna Chakma and Maria Manda scored one goal each to hand Bangladesh their first win in this year’s competition.

Bangladesh shared points with Nepal after a goalless draw in the opening game of the tournament on Saturday.

Tohura scored the first goal of the match very early after kickoff. She found the back of the net on the second minute of play.

Shahada doubled the lead in the 41st minute, and just before half-time, Tohura scored again to make the shoreline 3-0.

After the break, Bangladesh again scored very early. This time, Shahada found her second goal in the 47th minute. Ritu scored on the 69th minute, and during the injury time, Maria Manda put the cherry on top with another goal, completing a 6-0 thrashing. – TBP
