Mithun-Mizan make mammoth stand

Mohammad Mithun and Mizanur Rahman formed a mammoth opening partnership of 327 runs for Walton Central Zone against BCB North Zone in the Bangladesh Cricket League at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.

They were very close to breaking the highest opening partnership record of 350 runs, made by Dhaka Division’s Rony Talukdar and Abdul Majid during the 2018 NCL season at BKSP.

Mithun and Mizan almost surpassed that record as they were scoring freely at the batting-friendly surface of ZACS. But at the stroke of Tea on day two, Mizan was given out for LBW off a delivery from off-spinner Naeem Islam.

Mizan was out for 162 runs, putting an end to their opening stand of 327 runs in 78.3 overs. Mithun also did not last long after losing his partner. He was caught behind for 176.

Central Zone ended day two on 430-2, leading by 211 runs. Soumya Sarkar was unbeaten on 39 runs, and Salman Hossain was unbeaten on 40 runs.

Earlier, North Zone were all out for 219 runs. – TBP
