Naeem Islam scored a century for North Zone against South Zone and Abu Haider took five wickets for Walton Central Zone against Islami Bank East Zone on the first day of round two’s play in Bangladesh Cricket League on Sunday.
At Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium East Zone were all out for 245 runs in their first innings in 83.5 overs.
Shahadat Hossain was the top scorer for East Zone with 72 runs, Nayeem Hasan was unbeaten on 40 runs.
Abu Haider picked five wickets, he ended up with an impressive bowling figure of 20.5-5-93-5. Hasan Murad also picked three wickets. Central Zone got only one over to bat on day one and they finished the day at 4-0.
Mizanur Rahman and Mohammad Mithun, both were unbeaten on two runs.
At Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium Chattogram, Naeem was unbeaten on 126 runs as North Zone ended day one on 246-4. Mahidul Islam Ankon was also unbeaten on 53 runs.
North Zone had a shaky start as both their openers, Tanzid Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon were out for ducks.
Junaid Siddique also departed after scoring 15 runs but after that Naeem and Marshal Ayub(47) steadied the ship.
