Mizanur Rahman, Mohammad Mithun, and Soumya Sarkar; all three cricketers who scored hundreds in their last innings for Walton Central Zone have seen the flip side of the coin on Monday as all of them were out for only two runs.
Mizan scored 162 runs against North Zone at Chattogram in the previous innings, he was out for two runs right After Mithun suffered the same fate.
Mithun scored 176 runs in his last innings and formed 327 runs opening partnership with Mizanur, but on Monday they could add only two at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium Mirpur.
Soumya lost his place from the national team due to his poor show and he showed a glimpse of returning to form but he has bitten the dust again as he was also out for two runs against Islami Bank East Zone.
Jaker Ali and Taibur Rahman helped their team’s recovery, but both were unlucky as they missed out on potential hundreds. Taibur was out for 76 runs and Jaker was out for 92 runs.
Central Zone ended on 223-9 after 86.4 overs, trailing by 22 runs to East Zone’s first innings total of 245 runs.
In the other match at Chattogram, North Zone were all out for 385 runs in their first innings.
Naeem Islam was the top-scorer with 137 runs, Mahidul Islam Ankon was out for 76 runs.
Nasum Ahmed took six wickets and he reached his 100 first-class wickets.
In reply, South Zone were 111-2 at the close of play on day two, Amite Hasan was unbeaten on 31 runs while Towhid Hridoy was not out on 31.
South Zone was trailing by 273 runs, with eight wickets in hand.
