Two omicron infected women cricketers leave hospital

Two women cricketers who were found to be infected with the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 virus are now fully recovered and left hospital for their homes, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board official.

Debashish Chowdhury, physician at the BCB, told the reporters that the two women cricketers have left the hospital after they were found covid negative on Sunday,

“Both the cricketers were found negative”, he told the media on Monday.

The women cricketers were part of the team that went to Zimbabwe to take part in the Women’s World Cup Qualifier, which was called off in the midway due to high infection rate of the Omicron variant.

The cricketers returned home via Oman and put in quarantine, two of them were found positive with Omicron variant.

They were the first case of Omicron variant in Bangladesh.

Later these two cricketers were moved to Mugda General Hospital from the hotel.

Though they did not have any critical ailments, they were kept under observation as they were carrying omicron variant.

But they recovered well and now they are released from the hospital.

A support staff of the women’s team was also found Covid-19 positive, but he was carrying the delta variant of the virus.

He is yet to be found Covid-19 negative, but he is doing well.
