The match between Walton Central Zone and Islami Bank East Zone is heading towards a result while the match between North Zone and South Zone is heading towards a draw after the end of day three in the second round’s matches of the Bangladesh Cricket League.
At Mirpur, Central Zone need 112 runs more to win on day four while East Zone needs nine more wickets to win.
At Chattogram, both the teams are yet to complete their first innings even after day three which promises a stalemate as only one more day’s play is left.
South Zone, starting the third day with an overnight score of 112-2, ended on 350-3 and they are still 35 runs short of North Zone’s first innings total of 385 runs.
Towhid Hridoy, who was 39* after day two stretched his innings to 159* to help his side add 238 runs on day three for the loss on only one wicket.
This is his maiden ton in first-class cricket, his previous best was 68 runs.
Amite Hasan was the only batsman to be dismissed on Tuesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram; he was out for 131 runs.
Central Zone, with their last remaining wicket, added five more runs on day three morning, taking the total to 227 in their first innings.
After that, East Zone managed only 180 runs in their second innings, setting up a target of 199 runs for Central Zone in the fourth innings.
Hasan Murad took four wickets, Abu Hider and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury took two wickets each.
Pritom Kumar (54) and Nayeem Hasan (68) scored half-centuries.
Chasing 199 runs for victory, Central Zone were 87-1 in 23 overs after the end of day three.
Mohammad Mithun was unbeaten on 42 runs and Soumya Sarkar was unbeaten on 33 runs.
