BCB to form new standing committee on Friday

Bangladesh Cricket Board will form their standing committees on Friday, said BCB president Nazmul Hasan.

The election of the BCB board of directors was held on October 6, 2021, and on October 7 Nazmul was elected again as the BCB president where all the newly elected directors voted.

The formation of a new standing committee was delayed due to the ICC T20 World Cup and the home series against Pakistan right after the global event.

So far, the old committee was running the show on an ad-hoc basis Nazmul told the reporters on Wednesday that the new standing committee for the new tenure will be formed on Friday,

“We will form the committee on December 24”, said the BCB president.

There had been some confusion regarding the stepping down of Akram Khan from the post of Cricket Operations chairman, Nazmul cleared his stand on this matter,

“First, we haven’t formed the new committees yet, so how can he step down? He was in the previous committee, but now that committee’s tenure is over. How can someone step down after the period is over? He told the reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

Nazmul said that Akram has been struggling to maintain the work-life balance due to the heavy pressure of his role which became more difficult due to the covid situation and the bio-security protocol.

The BCB president told the reporters that Akram told him about his predicament but left the final call on him,

“He told me about his problems, he thinks it will be difficult for him. For eight years he has been working with the national team, the workload is heavy. He also said that he is open to working in any other role”, said Nazmul.
