Bangladesh national men’s volleyball team won their match against Maldives, but the women’s team lost their match against Uzbekistan in their respective games of the Bangabandhu Asian Central Zone Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup and Bangamata Asian Central Zone Women’s Volleyball Challange Cup in Dhaka on Friday.

The men’s team made their winning start in the tournament on Thursday by defeating Nepal, and in their second match, they have beaten Maldives by a 3-0 set.

Bangladesh won the sets by 25-14, 25-19, and 25-22 points. The skipper of the Bangladesh team, Horosit Bishwas, was judged as the player of the match.

After the match, Horosit said, “We have won two matches. Our aim is to play in the final. We are getting closer to our target. In the third set, our coach has tried some new players therefore, the third set was a bit tougher. Our next game is against Sri Lanka, who are tough opposition.”

“In the last SA games, we managed to win only one set against them. As we are playing at home this time, we can hope for a win,” he added.

In the women’s tournament, Bangladesh suffered another defeat. They lost to Kyrgyzstan by 3-0. They lost the sets by 25-11, 25-15, 25-14 points.
