Bangladesh Under-19 cricket team made a winning start in the ACC U-19 Asia Cup in UAE as they beat Nepal U-19 in their opening match by 154 runs on Friday.
An unbeaten century by Prantik Nowrose Nabil, who scored 127 runs from 112 balls, helped the junior Tigers to post a healthy total of 297-4 in 50 overs.
After a brief start by the openers, Nabil came to bat at number three and held the helm till the end.
The left-hander was well supported by Aich Mollah (22), Fahim (58), and SM Meherob (21) throughout the Bangladesh innings.
Pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib removed both the Nepalese openers early and then skipper Rakibul Hasan dismissed Santosh Karki with his left-arm spin to ensure that Nepal struggled in a big chase.
Bibek Magar (33) and Gulshan Jha (35) put some resistance in the middle, but both were run out.
Meherob also contributed with a bit of off-spin after scoring a handy 21* as he picked up two wickets. Naimur Rahman Noyon also picked two with his left-arm spin, and Rakibul got another to wrap up the Himalayan side for 143 runs in just 42.3 overs.
