Bangladesh Under-19 National Cricket team hammered Kuwait U-19 by 227 runs in their second match of the U-19 Asia Cup at Sharjah on Saturday.
Bangladesh put up a strong total of 291, courtesy of a hundred from opener Mahfijul Islam. In reply, Kuwait could not put up against the Bangladesh bowling as they were bowled out for just 64.
Batting first, Bangladesh lost Iftakher Hossain early, but Mahfijul held on to one end. On his way to reaching three figures, he was assisted by Aich Mollah (20), Ariful Islam (23), and Tahjibul Islam (25) at the other end. Mahfijul scored 112 off 119 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and four sixes.
SM Meherob scored a brilliant cameo of 42 from just 24 deliveries, but a late-order collapse saw Bangladesh bowled out for 291.
In reply, Kuwait could not put up any kind of fight as they lost seven wickets for just 34. Only skipper Meet Bhavsar (43) and Mirza Ahmed (11) could reach double figures on their way to being bowled out for 64.
Ripon Mondol picked up three wickets for Bangladesh, with SM Meherob and skipper Rakibul Hasan picking up two each. Musfik Hasan and Naimur Rohman picked up one wicket each.
With this win, Bangladesh have four points with two wins from two matches. The young Tigers will face Sri Lanka in their third match of the tournament on Tuesday.
