Bangladesh knocked out from U-19 Asia Cup semi-final

Bangladesh Under-19 national cricket team were knocked out of the U-19 Asia Cup after suffering a 103-run defeat to India in the semi-final at Sharjah on Tuesday.

Batting first, India U-19 put up 243-8 on board, courtesy of an unbeaten 90-run knock from Shaik Rasheed. In reply, Bangladesh lost wickets on a regular basis to get bowled out for 140.

India will face Sri Lanka in the final today.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh skipper Rakibul Hasan opted to field first. And they were off to a good start as they managed to reduce India to 62-3.

But Rasheed held on to one end, and he was helped by skipper Yash Dhull (26) and Raj Bawa (23). Rasheed stayed unbeaten on 90, and a late cameo of 28 runs off 18 deliveries from Vicky Ostwal took them to 243-8.

Rakibul picked up three wickets, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Naimur Rohman, SM Meherob, and Ariful Islam picking up one each.

In reply, Bangladesh were 50-4 in no time, with centurions from previous matches, Mahfijul Islam and Prantik Nowrose Nabil, back in the hut.

Bangladesh could never recover from that poor start and lost wickets consistently. Only Ariful Islam put up a brief fight as he scored 42, but nobody else was there to support him as Bangladesh folded for 140.

Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Ravi Kumar, Bawa, and Ostwal picked up two wickets each, with Nishant Sindhu, and Kaushal Tambe picking up one each.
