Bangladesh women’s cricket team has made a winning start in the Commonwealth Games qualifier as they beat Malaysia by eight wickets on Tuesday.

The ICC Commonwealth Games Qualifier 2022 began at the Kinrara Oval in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday as Bangladesh, Kenya, Malaysia, Scotland and Sri Lanka vying for the lone remaining slot at the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham.

In their opening game, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to field first at Kinrara Oval, Kuala Lumpur against Malaysia.

The home side could not produce much resistance against Bangladesh, they managed to score only 49 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.

 Winifred Duraisingam was the top scorer with 12 runs.

Suraiya Azmin and Rumana Ahmed picked two wickets each.

Chasing a small total, Bangladesh scored 53-2 in eight overs to secure a victory by eight wickets with 72 balls to spare.

Shamima Sultana scored 28 runs, Murshida Khatun added 14 runs.

Rumana was judged player of the match for his impressive bowling figure of 4-0-4-2.
