BCB keeps an eye on Miraz incident

The Bangladesh Cricket Board are keeping an eye on the clash between the Bangladesh Premier League side Chattogram Challengers and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, which happened after the all-rounder was removed as the captain of the franchise.

Miraz, who was appointed as the skipper of Chattogram ahead of the tournament, was snubbed off captaincy on Saturday before the match against Sylhet Sunrisers. Later on, Miraz said that he was informed only three hours before the match and pointed fingers at Chattogram CEO Yasir Alam.

“He (Yasir) is always busy. If he is in the team, I won’t be there. I will only play if he is not there,” Miraz said.

Chairman of the BPL governing council and BCB director Sheikh Sohel said on Monday that there will be a hearing to solve the matter once the BPL action returns to Dhaka.

“After discussions with all parties, we have seen that both Miraz and the management are at fault to some extent. Miraz should have waited as we were there. There will be a hearing after they return to Dhaka,” Sohel said.

There have been questions if there was something corrupt involved, instead of just a clash between two parties, but BCB director Ismail Haider Mallick denied such rumours.

“We haven’t heard about anything as such till now. Both parties have said that it was due to a communication gap,” he said.

Mallick, who is also a member of the BPL governing council, said that the Anti-Corruption Unit of both BCB and the International Cricket Council was keeping an eye on the tournament.

“Both BCB and ICC’s ACU is following every match of the tournament. One member of the ACU is with every team. As it has negatively come into light, we will look at it with importance,” Mallick added.
