The national selectors are keeping a close watch over Bangladesh Premier League as they will be selecting squads for the upcoming One-Day International and Twenty20 Internationals against Afghanistan scheduled to take place later this month, said Abdur Razzak.
The former left-arm spinner is the newest member of the Selection panel and he told the media on Sunday that the selectors have sat together a couple of times so far for discussing the team formation,
“We sat together but the team is not finalized yet. Soon it will be finalized. As a T20 tournament is ongoing and we have a T20I series ahead. So, if someone performs prominently, they will be definitely considered”, Razzak told the reporters at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh is suffering from a lack of performing opening batsman in T20 and Tamim Iqbal also stated that he is not interested to play in this format for the next six months.
Imrul Kayes played a knock of 81 runs in his last match against Chattogram Challengers, but Razzak thinks that his former teammate is not up to the mark,
“Imrul is not up to the mark. He played well in the last match but he is not performing well enough to get a comeback call. He hasn’t played well for a long time, just consider his performance in the national league. I am not blaming him because it’s natural that a player goes through good times and bad times”, said Razzak.
