Bopara penalised

Sylhet Sunrisers’ Captain, Ravi Bopara, has been penalised 75 per cent of his match fees for a breach of the Code of Conduct during their match against Khulna Tigers on February 7, said a media release from Bangladesh Cricket Board.

Bopara was caught on the camera while deforming the ball with his nails, a clear breach of playing conditions.

The Technical Committee of Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20 2022 sanctioned the penalties following an appeal by Bopara against a three-match ban imposed on him by match referee Debabrata Paul for the initial charge brought forward by the umpires.

After the appeal hearing on 08 February, the Technical Committee reversed the suspension and executed the fine, and awarded him three demerit points.

One more demerit point for Bopara will result in a suspension of one match, said the press release. -TBP
