Nafisha wins bronze at Grand Prix

Shooter Nafisha Tabassum claimed a bronze medal for Bangladesh on Thursday as she finished third in the 10M Air Rifle event of the International Shooting Sport Federation Grand Prix in Jakarta, Indonesia.

She finished third behind Laura-Georgeta Ilie from Romania, and Khairunnisa Salsabela from India with a total score of 37. Ilie scored 49 to win the gold, with Salsabela scoring 45.5 to get her hands on the silver.

Earlier in 2021, Nafisha had won the gold medal in the 10M Air Rifle event of the Bangladesh Games.

Besides Nafisha, two other Bangladeshi shooters competed in the event. Sajida Haque was knocked out of the semi-finals, whereas Atkia Hasan failed to get through the qualifiers.

The result was not quite the same for Bangladesh in the men’s event as the best performer there was Shovon Chowdhury finishing fifth. Rabbi Hasan finished sixth.
