Mushfiq and his anger management

Khulna Titans skipper Mushfiqur Rahim sparked another controversy on Friday during their defeat to Comilla Victorians as he was seen pushing pacer Khaled Ahmed away while celebrating Liton Das’ dismissal.

Liton, who smashed 41 off just 17 deliveries, was out in the seventh over when Mushfiq took a brilliant catch off Thisara Perera’s bowling. During the celebrations, Khaled tried to hug Mushfiq, but the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman pushed him away with what looked like anger, which may have stemmed from an incident in the previous over.

In the sixth over bowled by Ruyel Miah, Liton skied a ball trying to swat it down the leg side, but Khaled failed to take the catch, allowing the Comilla batsman to survive.

Such a reaction from Mushfiq is not something unforeseen as he had done something even more controversial back in 2020.

During the eliminator match of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup between Beximco Dhaka, the team Mushfiq played for, and Fortune Barishal, Barishal’s Afif Hossain skied a shot and both Mushfiq and Nasum Ahmed ran towards the ball.

The two almost collided, but Mushfiq managed to hold on to the ball. After completing the catch, Mushfiq was visibly angry as he almost threw the ball at Nasum for blocking his way. Nasum had later said that everything was fine between him and Mushfiq. – TBP
