Joy elated after ODI call

Mahmudul Hasan Joy, who got the maiden call up in the One-Day International team of Bangladesh for the Afghanistan series said that he will stick to his natural game if he gets a chance to play.

“I am happy to get called up to the One-Day squad. I made it to the test team before and understand that the white ball game is different. If I get the opportunity to play in these three matches, I would want to do well by playing my natural game”, Joy told the media in a video message.

Earlier this year, Joy got called into the test squad for the series in New Zealand. Bangladesh’s most memorable away test win saw Joy score a solid knock of 78 in the first innings, where he faced an excess of 200 deliveries, giving Bangladesh a solid start and displayed the fortitude and solidity in Joy’s batting. Unfortunately, he got injured and had to get stitches on his hand missing out on opening the second innings and eventually the rest of the series.

Joy handled the pacers well in New Zealand but at home he might face spin attack from Afghanistan but the young batsman is ready for the challenge,

“Afghanistan is a good side and they have a number of top-quality spinners in their team. We are hopeful that we can do well if we perform to our full potential “, he said on Tuesday.
