DRS, spectators set to return in Afghanistan series

Decision Review System and spectators will return in the Bangladesh-Afghanistan series, scheduled to start from February 23 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

The DRS was unavailable during the recently concluded Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League T20 because the technicians could not arrive, said Bangladesh Cricket Board director Tanvir Ahmed.

“The equipment has already arrived but the technicians could not come. But now we hope that the DRS operators can land in Bangladesh before the start of the series,” Tanvir said on Sunday.

As the Bangladesh government will lift the Covid-19 restrictions from Tuesday, BCB is hoping to open the gates for more spectators during the Bangladesh-Afghanistan series,

“We want at least 50% seating capacity. If the government permits, we will be trying to allocate at least 50% spectators in the gallery,” Tanvir said.

The ticket selling method is yet to be finalised but according to BCB sources, a ticket booth will be set up at the BITAC crossing near the ZACS. – TBP
